Hofball in Wien (Court Ball in Vienna)
1900
ドイツのクレフェルトに生まれ、オーストリアのウィーンを中心に活躍した画家、イラストレーター。
Under dazzling lights, thousands of people in splendid dresses and military uniforms gather at Vienna's Hofburg Palace.
At the center of this ball, celebrating the dawn of a new century, the dignified figure of the elderly Emperor Franz Joseph I is depicted.
However, in 1900, when this painting was created, the Emperor and the Habsburg Empire were plunged into deep sorrow.
