Terms of Service

This English text is a reference translation provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy between this translation and the Japanese original, the Japanese version shall prevail.

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the conditions for using "MusicStory" (musicstory.art, the "Service"), operated by inote Inc. (the "Company"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service. By registering for or accessing the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 1 (Definitions)

The terms used in these Terms are defined as follows.

  1. "User": any person who has registered for the Service
  2. "Free Member": a User on the free plan
  3. "Premium Member": a User with an active paid plan (including during the trial period)
  4. "Content": stories, paintings, composer information, and all other text, images, audio, video, and similar material provided on the Service
  5. "Notes": text created and posted by a User on the Service

Article 2 (Account Registration)

  1. You may register for the Service using an email address and password, or using a Google account.
  2. Please provide accurate information when registering. Registration with false information is prohibited.
  3. You are responsible for managing your own account. The Company is not liable for unauthorized use of an account by a third party.
  4. Each User may register only one account.
  5. Minors must obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before using the Service.

Article 3 (Plans and Fees)

Free plan

  • Full access to stories from the current day and the preceding three days
  • Up to five Notes
  • Access to Everyone's Notes (public Notes)

Premium plan

  • JPY 980 per month (tax included)
  • Unlimited access to all archived Content
  • Unlimited creation and publishing of Notes
  • Priority access to new features

Free trial

  • A 7-day free trial is available upon initial registration
  • Billing for the premium plan begins automatically when the trial period ends
  • No charge is incurred if you cancel during the trial period

Article 4 (Payment)

  1. Fees are paid by credit card or debit card. Stripe is used as the payment service.
  2. Fees are paid monthly in advance and renew automatically each month based on the contract date.
  3. Fees are billed in Japanese yen.
  4. Payment information is managed within Stripe's systems; the Company does not retain card numbers or other payment details.
  5. If prices are revised, we will notify you by email or on the Service at least 30 days before the change.

Article 5 (Cancellation and Refunds)

  1. You may cancel the premium plan at any time from your account page.
  2. After cancellation, you may continue to use premium features until the end of the current billing period.
  3. Fees already paid are, as a rule, non-refundable. However, if the Service was unavailable for an extended period due to a system failure or similar cause, we will respond on a case-by-case basis.
  4. After cancellation, your account moves to the free plan.

Article 6 (Prohibited Conduct)

Users must not engage in any of the following.

  1. Conduct that violates laws and regulations or these Terms
  2. Infringing the copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of the Company or third parties
  3. Defaming the Company or third parties
  4. Sending spam or conducting sales activities through the Service
  5. Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the Service
  6. Gaining or attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  7. Reproducing, distributing, or selling Content of the Service without permission
  8. Creating multiple accounts
  9. Bulk retrieval of Content using automated tools or similar means
  10. Any other conduct the Company deems inappropriate

Article 7 (Copyright in Content)

  1. Copyright in the Content of the Service (text, images, design, and so on) belongs to the Company or to the rightful rights holders.
  2. Users may view Content for personal use only. Reproduction, republication, and commercial use are prohibited.
  3. Copyright in Notes created by a User belongs to that User. However, the User grants the Company a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use their Notes for the operation, improvement, and promotion of the Service.
  4. Notes set to public can be viewed by other Users within the Service.

Article 8 (Changes to and Suspension of the Service)

  1. The Company may change, add to, or remove parts of the Service without prior notice.
  2. The Service may be temporarily suspended without notice for scheduled maintenance or in an emergency.
  3. If the Service is to be discontinued, we will notify Users at least 30 days in advance.

Article 9 (Disclaimer)

  1. The Company does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of the Content of the Service.
  2. Except in cases of the Company's willful misconduct or gross negligence, the Company is not liable for damages incurred by Users through use of the Service.
  3. Even where the Company bears liability, compensation is limited to the fees paid by the User to the Company over the preceding three months.
  4. The Service may contain links to external services (Spotify, Apple Music, Instagram, and others); the Company is not responsible for the content of those external services.

Article 10 (Suspension and Deletion of Accounts)

The Company may suspend or delete an account without prior notice in the following cases.

  1. Violation of these Terms
  2. No login for six months or longer (we will notify you by email in advance)
  3. Non-payment of fees
  4. Any other case the Company deems inappropriate

Article 11 (Withdrawal)

  1. Users may close their account at any time from their account page.
  2. After withdrawal, account information and Notes are deleted. Deleted data cannot be restored.
  3. Premium Members should cancel their subscription before closing their account.

Article 12 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
  2. The Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute relating to the Service.

Article 13 (Changes to These Terms)

  1. The Company may amend these Terms as necessary.
  2. For material changes, we will notify you by email or on the Service at least seven days before the change.
  3. If you use the Service after a change takes effect, you are deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.
